Legislators Urge FDA to Combat Counterfeit Weight-Loss Drugs

Reported about 23 hours ago

Over 80 bipartisan lawmakers are calling on the FDA to take action against the rising issue of counterfeit weight-loss drugs, particularly knockoffs of popular GLP-1 medications like Wegovy and Zepbound. In a letter to FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, they expressed concern about the safety risks posed by these illegal medications and urged the agency to enhance enforcement against non-compliant pharmacies and imported products. The lawmakers seek a response from the FDA by July 30 to address the safety of patients potentially affected by these counterfeit drugs.
