Cho Jung-tai reiterated that the current situation across the strait is one of non-subordination, which the government will strive to maintain. This remark came after Mainland Affairs Council Deputy Minister Liang Wenjie stated on a radio program that essentially both sides of the strait are two countries, leading to criticism from Ma Ying-jeou Foundation CEO Xiao Xucen. In response, Premier Su Tseng-chang emphasized that in the current situation, both sides are not subordinate to each other, which is the most helpful for the security and stability of the Indo-Pacific region.
