Lien Chan attends the Cross-Strait Forum: Mainstream Opinion in Taiwan Does Not Support the Pro-Independence Stance of those in Power

At the opening of the Cross-Strait Forum on June 15, Wang Hui-ning, the Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, met with Kuomintang Vice Chairman Lien Chan and his delegation prior to the event. Lien Chan mentioned that in the 2024 Taiwan election, at least 60% of the people do not support the pro-independence stance and actions of Taiwan's current leadership. He emphasized that most people also wish to peacefully coexist with friends from mainland China, which reflects the undeniable mainstream public opinion. The forum highlighted the desire of people from both sides for exchanges, cooperation, and maintaining peace in the Taiwan Strait.
