A lightning strike fatally strikes a Colorado cattle rancher, along with 34 of his cattle; his wife and father-in-law survive.

Reported 4 months ago

A Colorado cattle rancher, Mike Morgan, and 34 of his cattle were killed by a lightning strike while he was feeding them hay in a field near Rand, 80 miles northwest of Denver. Morgan's wife and father-in-law survived the incident. Lightning strikes are most common during the summer months, with peaks in June, and the National Weather Service recommends seeking shelter indoors, avoiding corded phones, staying away from windows and doors, and unplugging electrical devices during thunderstorms to minimize the risk of lightning strikes in hot zones.
