Liu Jin has resigned from his position as President of the Bank of China for personal reasons. His resignation, which takes effect immediately, has led to Chairman Ge Haijiao being appointed as the acting president. Liu, who took over as president in April 2021, previously held high-ranking roles in other major banks. His departure comes in the wake of increasing scrutiny and anti-corruption efforts within China's financial sector.
