Loud Bang on Takeoff... Taiwan Ambassador to Japan Encounters Lightning Strike on Flight, Contemplates Writing Will

Reported 8 months ago

According to TVBS News Network's video on June 19, 2024, at 3:39 AM, Taiwan's ambassador to Japan posted on Facebook that his flight back to Japan was struck by lightning during takeoff yesterday, especially with frequent afternoon thunderstorms recently and Songshan Airport even temporarily closed. The airline confirmed that there was indeed a lightning strike during takeoff, but upon arrival at Haneda Airport, the aircraft was immediately inspected. A flying instructor explained that airplanes act as conductors and the cabin is insulated, so the probability of being struck by lightning is actually quite low.
