Mainland Drone Incident Causes Delay of Uni Air Flights in Matsu Nangan Airport Due to Lack of Anti-Drone System

Reported 12 months ago

Yahoo News reported that Matsu Nangan Airport was interfered by a mainland Chinese drone for the first time on the morning of July 2, 2024, causing delays for two Uni Air flights. The airport was notified by the Matsu Defense Command that a mainland drone was flying about 9.3 kilometers away from the airport. This incident highlights the lack of anti-drone systems in the airport, unlike at other airports in Taiwan, which could detect and intercept drones. As a result, flights were delayed, with one landing 30 minutes later than scheduled and causing subsequent flights to be delayed as well.
