On June 10, 2024, a Chinese mainland man driving a speedboat illegally entered Taiwan's territory, reaching Danshui only 6 nautical miles away from Taipei. The man proceeded to collide with a ferry at the Danshui wharf and was apprehended by Coast Guard personnel for investigation, marking the first case of a mainland speedboat directly entering Taiwan. The Coast Guard is conducting further inquiries to determine the purpose and method of his arrival, and legal actions will be taken based on violations of relevant laws.
