Majority of US Drivers Support Anti-Speeding Technology in Vehicles, Survey Finds

Reported 7 months ago

More than 60% of drivers in the United States express acceptance towards audible and visual warnings in their vehicles for exceeding speed limits, as per a survey by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The survey of 1,802 drivers aimed to gauge sentiments towards intelligent speed assistance systems, addressing the prevalent issue of over-speeding contributing to a significant number of US traffic fatalities. The report highlighted that about half of the surveyed drivers admitted to exceeding speed limits by at least 15 mph in the past month. As the European Union prepares to mandate ISA systems in new vehicles, the survey revealed strong support among drivers for features like displaying current speed limits and providing subtle alerts for speed limit changes.
