In Taipei, a man armed with a 49cm samurai sword attacked a taxi driver in the Tianmu area, after being asked to switch cars due to sequencing rules. The man, who was half-naked and only wearing yellow underwear, frightened bystanders by waving the sword around before slashing the driver's back with it. The driver sustained a 3cm wound and, despite the injury not being severe, was left traumatized. The assailant, known for his troubled past, had recently been released for drug-related charges and is now facing charges for attempted murder among others.
