On June 28, 2024, a man surnamed Liao in Taipei was fined 5,000 for ramming the President's Office flower terrace. Last year, Liao was arrested after ramming the office and was found with a gas gun and a watermelon knife in his car. Investigations revealed that he had rammed the office twice in the same day. Liao objected to the initial fine, claiming the knife was for cutting fruit, and the gun was a toy. However, his appeal was rejected, and the original decision was upheld by the judge.
