In Taipei's Wanhua district, a 68-year-old tenant killed his landlord over unpaid $20,000 rent, then fled to his hometown in Hsinchu and turned himself in to the police. When asked if he regretted his actions, he nodded in agreement. The son of the victim expressed deep sorrow and disbelief over the severity of the conflict between the tenant and his father. The tenant, identified as a 68-year-old suspect named Chen, was escorted to the morgue by the police to reenact the crime scene. The incident came to light when the suspect made a self-report at a convenience store in Hsinchu, confessing to the murder. The violent act occurred in an apartment in Taipei where the victim, a 78-year-old landlord surnamed Yan, was found dead with multiple stab wounds which were inflicted by the tenant due to rent arrears.
