On June 26, 2024, a man named Yang Jinglong fired shots at a police station in Taoyuan in dissatisfaction with how his case was handled by the police. After shooting 14 bullets at the station, he was chased by police and fired 17 more shots, injuring an officer. Taoyuan prosecutors have charged Yang with attempted murder and weapon offenses, seeking an 18-year prison sentence due to his severe impact on public safety. Despite causing damage to the station, no casualties were reported. Yang was arrested and found possessing multiple firearms, leading to his prosecution.
