On June 17, 2024, in Kaohsiung, a man was seen brandishing a chainsaw, refusing inspection, and colliding with a police car to escape. The police arrived at the scene and attempted to investigate, but the man, holding a chainsaw of over 50 cm, started waving it erratically at the officers. The police fired warning shots to deter him, but he fled in a vehicle, which ended up crashing into a police car. Eventually apprehended, the man sustained a gunshot wound to his left hand and was found with drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and will face legal consequences for obstruction of justice and drug-related offenses.
