Manchester Airport, the UK's third busiest airport, experienced a major power outage around 1:30 am local time on June 23, affecting security and baggage systems, leading to the cancellation of over 100 flights and impacting more than 90,000 passengers. Low-cost airline EasyJet was particularly hard hit. Although power has been restored, the restart of systems will take time, causing significant delays and cancellations. The airport's management apologized for the inconvenience and advised passengers to carry onboard luggage to ease congestion.
