A significant wildfire threatens suburban areas on the outskirts of Athens, prompting mass evacuations as homes are engulfed in flames. Greece faces severe heat and drought conditions, exacerbating wildfire risks. This summer's major blaze, fueled by strong winds and high temperatures, has led to over a dozen evacuations, with police rescuing more than 250 individuals trapped since Sunday. European nations, including France and Italy, are sending aid, while residents face soaring temperatures, reaching as high as 42C (108F) in the coming days.
