Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation Chairman Cheng Wen-tsang, implicated in a corruption case, was granted bail of 5 million NTD by the Taoyuan District Court. The Kuomintang later expressed respect for the judicial system, urged Cheng to resign, and called for the prosecutor to make efforts to ensure evidence preservation, avoid tampering, and prevent political interference to uphold judicial credibility. Cheng was also instructed to restricted residence and barred from leaving the country after his bail release.
