Michigan trucker sentenced to 10 years for setting semi-trailer fires

Reported about 1 year ago

Viorel Pricop, a Michigan truck driver, has been sentenced to more than a decade in federal prison for setting six Swift Transportation semi-trailers ablaze in California. Pricop, who was convicted of transporting stolen cargo in 2018, set fire to at least 24 semi-trailers across eight states, endangering truck drivers' lives. The judge ordered him to pay $648,000 in restitution, citing his reckless actions and previous criminal history as reasons for the lengthy prison sentence.
