Microsoft has altered key terms in its agreement with OpenAI following OpenAI's announcement of a $500 billion joint venture with Oracle and SoftBank to create new AI data centers. This change allows OpenAI to expand its computing capabilities while Microsoft retains exclusive rights to OpenAI's API, ensuring that Oracle cannot host OpenAI’s main revenue-generating services. Despite this shift, Microsoft's fundamental partnership with OpenAI, including revenue sharing and access to intellectual property, will continue until 2030.
