Recently, there have been ongoing disputes over the 'Love Seat' in public transportation, causing intergenerational conflicts and discussions on whether to abolish it. The Minister of Health, Shih-Chung Tsai, stated that the 'Love Seat,' symbolizing generational warmth, will definitely be retained. The possibility of retaining the name or renaming it as 'Priority Seat' can be further discussed. Experts suggest focusing on functional training to assist elderly drivers in maintaining physical functions and reaction capabilities to prevent improper elderly driving. The Ministry of Health plans to propose amendments to the 'Rights of Persons with Disabilities Protection Act,' intending to change the eligible recipients of the Love Seat. They plan to discuss with the Ministry of Transportation the direction of the amendments, focusing on changing the name from Love Seat to Priority Seat and expanding the scope of priority seating. The Ministry of Transportation agrees that the Love Seat is a good policy and will cooperate with the legislative amendments.
