Taiwan's Minister of Health and Welfare, Shih-Chung Chou, stated that while considering an amendment to the Disability Rights Law, the Disability Priority Seats, also known as '博愛座,' will be retained for social harmony. The name may be changed to 'Priority Seats' with further discussion. The current law reserves at least 15% of public transport seats as Priority Seats for individuals with disabilities, elderly, and other groups. The Ministry will explore adjustments in line with societal needs, drawing inspiration from countries like Japan where these seats are called 'Priority Seats.' Chou emphasized the symbolic warmth of these seats and ensured their retention in the law amendment process.
