A mother and daughter in New Taipei City were stopped by two men while riding a motorcycle through a narrow alley in Banciao. The men accused them of damaging a designer bag and demanded compensation. The victims recorded the incident on their phones, reported it to the police, and suspected that the suspects intentionally staged the fake accident to extort money. Surveillance footage revealed that the suspects had thrown the bag on the ground themselves. The suspects, identified as a 46-year-old man surnamed Zhang and a 45-year-old man surnamed Zhan, were arrested for allegedly orchestrating fake accidents. The victims, now fearful of similar encounters, recounted the incident with disbelief and fear.
