A tragedy unfolded in Bitan, New Taipei City, where a mother reportedly took her two young daughters out, brought them to a river, and left them there before returning home herself. When she couldn't find her daughters the next day, she alerted the authorities. The bodies of the 10 and 8-year-old girls were tragically discovered near the ferry dock after a night-time search by emergency personnel. The exact circumstances of the incident are still under investigation. The mother had seemingly attempted suicide and survived, later reporting the incident to the police station.
