Most of the current active-duty tanks of the national military belong to the tracked tank category. However, the Arms Procurement Office collaborates with the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology to develop a wheel-type tank that uses a 105mm cannon, reduces the vehicle height, and can better adapt to terrains like deserts and rivers. The internal space is also optimized to carry more ammunition. The new wheel-type tank enhances combat capabilities and is being continually improved, with the upcoming D3 model limiting the vehicle height to below 3 meters.
