On July 1, 2024, Chung Hsiao-ping, a Taipei city councilor from the Nationalist Party, declared that the party will initiate recalls, including those against the 'Tong Chicken,' in response to the recall crisis faced by Keelung Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang. Nationalist Party Chairman Eric Chu ordered full support for Hsieh and various party members have started proposing strategies to counter the recall. The party vows to fight back against the initiative which was condemned as using hatred by DPP. The Nationalist Party is gearing up for a comprehensive battle, with plans to possibly initiate a recall against Keelung City Council Speaker Tong Tzu-wei in response to continued pressure from green camp local representatives during the recall process.
