Reported about 1 year ago
Firefighters were called to a scene where a 24-year-old seaman, serving on the Navy's Ming Chuan vessel, had swum ashore. Upon questioning, he confessed he jumped overboard shortly after leaving the ship and swam for 2-3 hours to reach shore, as he did not want to continue his service. After being examined at the hospital, he was taken back by military personnel. The incident was attributed to family issues, and counseling will be provided. The Minister of Defense aims to lessen such cases through a more humane military approach.
