Navy Solider Fined $120,000 for Deserting Post and Going AWOL

A navy marine corps volunteer surnamed Huang deserted his post one night and went AWOL last August, resulting in an empty watchtower with weapons left unguarded. Huang, a lance corporal in the 66th Battalion, was sentenced to 4 months in prison and fined $120,000 for insubordination. Another soldier, surnamed Chen, who left his post without permission while Huang was off duty, was also penalized. Chen was sentenced to 20 days in detention and 2 years of probation.
