New BYD Hybrid Can Drive Continuously for Over 2,000 Kilometers

Reported 4 months ago

BYD Co. has introduced a new hybrid powertrain that can travel over 2,000 kilometers without recharging or refueling, positioning itself in competition with Toyota Motor Corp. and Volkswagen AG in the EV transition market. The upgraded technology, launched in two sedans costing under $13,800, marks a milestone in BYD's efforts to reduce fuel consumption since 2008. The company's focus on long-range hybrids has contributed significantly to its market dominance in China, where one in every two hybrids sold is a BYD. These advancements come as automakers globally strive to address range anxiety and environmental concerns, with BYD preparing to export the technology after its initial launch in China.
