To ensure fair and reasonable charging of electricity fees for renters in Taiwan, the Ministry of Interior reported new regulations regarding rental electricity fees, stating that the fee should not exceed the average price per unit based on actual consumption or the total amount on the bill if not based on usage. Landlords found violating this rule could be fined between 30,000 to 300,000 NTD. Experts believe that inspection will be challenging, and many renters might choose to endure potential overcharges to avoid disputes or the difficulty of finding new housing. The regulations are aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in electricity billing for renters, with the new rules set to take effect on July 15th.
