On June 28, 2024, Mayor Lu Hsiu-yan of Taichung and Mayor Hou Youyi of New Taipei engaged in a city exchange to discuss the construction concepts of Taichung Shopping Festival and New Taipei Christmas City. Both mayors praised each other's city projects and emphasized learning and mutual exchange. The exchange included discussions on economic development, infrastructure, and sustainable environment.
