On June 13, 2024, at 10:37 pm, a fatal accident occurred in Banqiao District, New Taipei City. A man driving a sedan collided with another car, then for unknown reasons reversed into a bridge pier and the car caught fire. Rescuers managed to extract the driver who was sent to the hospital but succumbed to excessive bleeding. The precise cause of the accident is still under investigation.
