On June 16, 2024, at 10:00 PM, a 24-year-old man surnamed Wang in Xinzhuang District, New Taipei City, was hit and seriously injured by a falling bamboo while riding his motorcycle towards Taoyuan. It was later discovered that the bamboo fell from a truck driven by a 39-year-old surnamed Pan. Pan claimed to be unaware of the incident and further investigations are ongoing. Wang suffered facial and limb abrasions from the accident with witnesses rushing to his aid and reporting to the police. Wang was promptly taken to receive medical treatment by the police, and the full cause of the incident is still under investigation.
