New Taipei's first public parking lot directly connected to a metro station, the Xinzhuang MRT Station Multilevel Parking Lot, has officially opened. New Taipei City is offering a promotional deal where people can park for free for one month during the trial period and also plans to add more social welfare spaces. Mayor Hou Yu-yi announced the opening and mentioned plans to increase both car and motorcycle parking spaces, as well as digitizing the parking system for better control. The Xinzhuang district, with a population of over 420,000, has high parking demand, prompting the need for additional public parking spaces. The city government also aims to provide multi-functional spaces in the parking lot for community use, such as public libraries and social welfare facilities on floors 5 to 8, considering local residents' needs.
