On July 1, 2024, at 3:15 am, a Dr. Wang from the Ren-Ai Hospital in Dali, Taichung, who assisted a pregnant woman named Lin in 2019, faced a lawsuit where the newborn died shortly after birth. Despite the criminal part not resulting in prosecution, the civil part ruled that Dr. Wang used a vacuum extractor incorrectly, leading to medical negligence. They were ordered to jointly compensate the couple 14.04 million. The case remains open for appeal.
