Wang Jianmin, at 56 years old, has been diagnosed with stage 4 pulmonary adenocarcinoma, with cancer cells spreading from his right lung to his spine and brain. Despite not smoking or drinking, he developed this form of lung cancer. Doctors highlighted risk factors including genetic predisposition, environmental pollution exposure, prolonged exposure to carcinogens, and underlying chronic lung diseases. They emphasize that non-smokers can still develop pulmonary adenocarcinoma and urge eligible individuals to undergo low-dose CT screening to detect cancer early and prevent excessive anxiety. Pulmonary adenocarcinoma is the most common type of lung cancer and not strongly associated with smoking.
