On June 26, 2024, North Korea floated its sixth round of trash balloons towards South Korea, causing a temporary halt in flights at Incheon Airport. Additionally, North Korea attempted to test-fire a ballistic missile in the early morning, which was determined by South Korea to have ended in failure. Despite the failed launch, the missile flew over 250 kilometers and was believed to be a hypersonic missile. South Korea responded to the trash balloons with psychological warfare broadcasts while also carrying out their own balloon campaigns using upgraded 'smart balloons' equipped with high-speed leaflet launchers and GPS tracking for improved outreach.
