FTNN News Network, June 23, 2024, 2:08 a.m. (FTNN News Network) - Reporter Sun Weilun from Taipei reported that Units 1 and 2 of the No. 3 Nuclear Power Plant in Hengchun Peninsula, Pingtung County, will be shut down for decommissioning in July and next May, prompting concerns about maintaining stable power supply. Kuomintang legislator Liao Weixiang stated today that if stable power supply cannot be maintained, whether Mai Liao Power Plant or Taichung Power Plant in central Taiwan will operate at full capacity, resulting in air pollution borne by central Taiwan residents. Liao criticized the lack of leadership in energy policy, with no clear direction from President Lai Ching-te, causing confusion and inefficiency in decision-making.
