NYC Congestion Pricing Generates $48.6 Million in Initial Month

Reported about 7 hours ago

New York City's congestion pricing program, which began on January 5, 2025, collected $48.6 million in its first month, aligning with projections of about $40 million per month. The initiative, designed to reduce traffic and improve air quality, charges most motorists $9 to enter areas south of 60th Street. Despite opposition from former President Trump, who aims to terminate the program, the MTA reported a 10% drop in vehicle traffic and plans to finance infrastructure improvements with the toll revenue.
