On June 25, 2024, at 6:27 AM, the Keelung City Police Traffic Police Team visited Zhonghe Elementary School to enhance the safety of teachers and students during their commute. They conducted an educational session for the teachers and fifth-grade students on correct traffic safety concepts, using quiz games and demonstrating real accident scenarios like pedestrians crossing roads illegally, bicycles running red lights, and blind spots of large vehicles. The students responded enthusiastically and were taught safety measures such as taking three steps back from the edge of road when facing a red light, stopping, looking, and listening before crossing, obeying signals, and signaling with hand gestures or long objects to increase driver awareness for cars and motorcycles. They also emphasized the importance of students following the 'slow ride' traffic rules when riding bicycles and how to avoid blind spots and wheelbase differences when large vehicles make turns, instilling the correct protection and road rights concepts in students. The Traffic Police Team aims to continue grassroots education through school campus outreach, ensuring teachers and students have the right road usage concepts to influence their families and friends to abide by traffic safety rules, collectively creating a safer traffic environment.
