Reported on July 1, 2024, by journalists Wu Kunyu, Chen Yijie, and Wang Ziyu from SET News, the first international dark sky park in Taiwan, Hehuan Mountain in Nantou, witnessed an absurd incident where visitors at the Kunyang parking lot on Provincial Highway 14A were seen turning on their car lights and setting off fireworks near the Taroko Border Monument. The 'Central Cross-Island Highway Information Station' social media staff exclaimed 'Oh my goodness,' and netizens heavily criticized the behavior. The Taiwan National Park Management Office stated that according to the National Parks Act, fireworks are strictly prohibited, and a first-time fine of NT$1,500 was issued. Visitors are urged not to imitate this illegal behavior.
