During the Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca, over 1300 individuals died due to extreme heat this year. Saida Wurie from the US accused a travel agency of taking $23,000 USD (about 750,000 TWD) from her parents for the pilgrimage, but failing to provide enough food and water. Her parents were promised official pilgrimage visas from the Arab government, but the agency did not fulfill this promise, leading to their tragic deaths after walking for hours in the scorching heat. Saudi Arabian officials stated that out of the 1.8 million participants in the pilgrimage, over three-quarters did not have legal visas, causing a tragic outcome. Wurie plans to travel to Saudi Arabia soon to find her parents' burial place.
