FTNN News 9th July 2024, 5:16 am: With the Paris Olympics approaching on 26th July, Taiwan's representative team has 60 qualified athletes. President Lai Ching-te visited the National Training Center to flag off the team, present funding, and wish them success. He also visited training sites for taekwondo, table tennis, weightlifting, and badminton to observe the Paralympic team's preparations. President Lai praised table tennis player Cheng Ming-chih from Tainan, stating, 'Coming from Tainan, no wonder he plays so well.' Cheng, who lost his leg in a car accident in 2011, excels in wheelchair table tennis and will represent Taiwan in the 2024 Summer Paralympics.
