Parliament Reform Reconsideration: Bluebird Action Returns to Outside Legislative Yuan with Over 200 Police Force in Taipei

Reported 8 months ago

The Legislative Yuan is set to vote on the reconsideration of the parliamentary reform proposed by the Executive Yuan on Friday, with civic groups resuming their supervision outside the Legislative Yuan today to protest against parliamentary abuse of power and warning 41 blue camp and independent lawmakers not to push forward seven major anti-democratic bills. Over 200 people gathered under the scorching sun by noon, with activities planned for three days to oppose parliamentary abuse and emphasize the importance of democracy. Taipei City police deployed 200 officers in the morning and 300 in the evening to maintain security during the activities. The civic groups are particularly concerned about the influence of these proposed laws on democratic progress, urging lawmakers to respect public opinion and not regress Taiwan's democracy.
