China Coast Guard forcefully boarded and took away a Penghu fishing boat, 'Da Jin Man 88', near Kinmen, prompting distress among local fishermen. The owner sought help as the Coast Guard deployed 3 boats for rescue attempts, but the Chinese authorities took the boat to Weitou Port in Fujian. The Taiwan government will coordinate through cross-strait channels to request the release of the detained boat and 6 crew members. The incident occurred when the boat was fishing in the waters off Kinmen and was intercepted by 2 Chinese coast guard ships, leading to a tense standoff. Despite efforts to rescue, the boat was taken to China by the Chinese authorities. In light of the sensitive cross-strait relations, caution during China's fishing moratorium, and the visibility of vessels in the area, local residents speculate that the Penghu fishing boat may have unintentionally attracted attention from Chinese authorities.
