On June 15, 2024, a woman's pet sugar glider escaped in the cabin on a flight from Shanghai to Shandong, leading to a one-hour delay and passenger dissatisfaction. The woman was subsequently administratively detained for disrupting order. As China's first chartered pet flight for international travel sets off, pet services have gained attention. Passengers raised concerns over how live animals pass through the first security check and how the woman managed to bring the sugar glider into the cabin, as the investigation by Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and airlines is ongoing.
