Many pet owners in Japan prioritize giving their beloved pets domestically sourced main food and supplements, as well as regular check-ups, despite their own health condition. This has led to an increase in the average lifespan of pets, with dogs averaging 14.2 years and cats averaging 14.7 years in 2021, according to Anicom Holdings Company's '2023 Family Animal White Paper.' The trend towards longer lifespans is attributed to pets being increasingly kept indoors, reducing risks of accidents or illness, advancements in animal health research and medical care, and the development of pet foods tailored to different breeds and ages.
