On July 2, 2024, at 10:44 PM, Taipei City's Animal Protection Department received a report of a dog falling from a sixth-floor balcony in the Da'an District. Despite rescue efforts, the dog did not survive and it is suspected that the dog was startled by thunder and fell. The department reminds pet owners to keep windows and doors closed or install protective measures to prevent pets from being scared and falling off buildings. It is emphasized that negligence leading to pet deaths at home can result in fines and owners should ensure a safe environment for their pets.
