President Lai Ching-te, who has been in office for a month since May 20, announced the establishment of three committees at the Presidential Office in Taipei. These committees include the National Climate Change Response Committee with Vice Premier John Deng, Academia Sinica President Liow Jiunn-jy and Hon Hai Precision Industry Chairman Terry Gou as deputy conveners; the National Resilience Committee with Vice President Chiu Mei-chin, Presidential Office Secretary-General Pan Meng-an, and National Security Council Secretary-General Wellington Koo as deputy conveners; and the Healthy Taiwan Promotion Committee with physician Chen Chih-hung, Taiwan Biomedical Industry Association Chairman Weng Chi-hui, and Cabinet Minister Chen Shih-chung as deputy conveners. The aim is to address climate change, societal resilience, and health promotion, emphasizing collaboration across sectors and with international partners.
