On June 28, 2024, the President's Office has filed for a constitutional interpretation and temporary disposal in response to the Parliament Reform Law. The law had recently taken effect, leading the President's Office and three other constitutional institutions to submit requests for constitutional interpretation and temporary disposal. President Lai Ching-te has reiterated the stance against expanding parliamentary powers but supported legal and constitutional reforms. This move aims to safeguard constitutional order and protect the people's rights. The amendments to the Legislative Yuan Powers Exercise Act and the Criminal Code, which were passed by the Legislative Yuan on May 28, had already come into effect.
