The Kuomintang caucus in the Legislative Yuan proposed an amendment to the Recall and Election Law to raise the recall threshold, with the Internal Administration Committee set to review the draft amendment on July 4 in a push to advance it to the second reading. The People's Party caucus recently stated they would not propose their own version of the amendment, and MP Mai Yuzhen expressed her opposition to raising the recall threshold. With 14 seats in the Internal Administration Committee and excluding the non-partisan convener Gao Jinsumei, the blue and green camps each hold 6 seats, making the KMT's proposed version of raising the recall threshold hinge on MP Mai Yuzhen's vote.
